Guest prs519
http://0.tqn.com/d/trucks/1/0/z/B/1/ModelTTruck_1924.jpgIs this a distiller's cargo, before prohibition? Look like very large bottlesof something.Perry in Idaho
nzcarnerd
If the truck belongs to the Ford Motor Co, maybe it is carrying distilled water to fill the batteries on the assembly line.
Layden B
Or drinking water. Remember when the water guy was a big fellow with one of these over his shoulder. Then plastic, then smaller and now gone!
Ben Popadak
Many years ago I bought a very, very, large glass bottle at an antique shop. The dealer told me it was a bottle made for holding acid. Kind of in the same line as nzcarnerd but maybe not distilled water, maybe battery acid. Dave@Moon
As discolored as some of those bottles appear I doubt they're carrying drinking water. I sure as he!! wouldn't drink anything out of something with that much white preciptate and/or etching!
Bleach
Those look a bit larger than the standard size five gallon drinking water carboy of the time.
Dave Mellor NJ
I doubt they would have transported acid like that. Pretty serious situation
Guest DLinscott
Those might not be stains on the bottles, but reflections from across the street.D
Guest De Soto Frank
I think it's water. They did have extra-large carboys back then. The white opaque appearance on some of the carboys is probably reflection - this photo was taken before the invention of anti-reflective coatings on optical glass ( camera lenses ) and polarizing filters.'Interesting truck, with the "buggy-seat" and solid rear tires....
