This 1939 Buick Special is special; this well maintained solid vehicle, with only 53,140 miles, has been under a constant restoration process over time as it is also being driven to shows and cruise’s. The inline 8 cylinder engine runs excellently, powering this attractive sedan quietly down the road with its 3 speed manual transmission.

This car has a lot of firsts to it; first year for column shift, first year for factory directional’s and the only year for its very distinctive grill design. Also; there is a very rare accessory, the side view mirror with thermometer as part of stanchion. This is a get in and drive car, improve as you go at your leisure.

The pluses and minuses are: Interior was completely reupholstered in the mid 1990’s, the entire car was repainted in its original Black color in 2000, vehicle was always mechanically maintained as the priority, the motor and transmission mounts were replaced in 2001 as well as having the shock absorbers rebuilt. Car has always been garaged. Except for some rust on the rear roll pan there is no other rust or rot on the car, the underneath is rust free, albeit dirty with a coating of oil and grease. No oil leaks, just the normal weeping as is expected. The original door weather stripping is in place but could be replaced if you wish it to be weather tight. All the glass is good shape with some delamination starting, but not in any field of driving vision. All the windows operate as they should including the rear sliding quarter windows. The horn button will need restoration, all the parts are included, but not on the steering wheel, which is aged cracked, there is an additional horn button installed at present. The gauges work and are in excellent condition. The wide white wall tires add to the distinctive look and have plenty of tread life left, for miles you will eventually drive. The brakes stop the car straight and true.

Included with the car is the original owner’s bill of sale from the dealership, warranty card and brochure, all the instructional attachment cards, sales brochures, and show information boards about the car.

This car is very presentable to show at the local level without embarrassment; you won’t be disappointed with this gem of fun. You will find this car described honestly and is priced accordingly.
