Guest Karen51
I have a 1937 Buick and the gear lube is transfering from the transmission to the rear end. I must constantly add to the trans. and drain the rear end. Is it a torque ball or rear trans seal ? If so, where can the parts to repair be obtained. ? Thanks Very MuchPete Rasmussen BCA 14248
Mark Shaw
I believe there is a machined spiral at the rear of the transmission that is designed to pump excess lube back into the transmission. You may have to remove the driveline for find it, but it may just be plugged up with sediment.
jeff
Or, too much clearance between the spiral and the piece it rides in. That would defeat the pumping action, I would think.Jeff

RiKi5156B
Does any one know what seals/gaskets are used between the front of the torque tube and the ball? My 40 special is going back together and I have a new gasket for the t/t flange but I am wondering if their is a seal inside the tube? Mine does not seem to have one. Also I had been told that 40 and 41 transmissions were different, I have a 40 special and a 41 super tranny and they look identical. Any help would be appreciated.Rich
Guest Straight eight
There is a seal of sorts that goes on the spline on the drive shaft. The seal is felt like, and fits in a "bottle cap" retainer and a spring. You might try Bob's Automobilia
