oil lines

hello,i tried a search without luck. i have 2 cars,38 lasalle,37 chevy that the oil filter lines broke on,need to replace ,the chevy ones are available,the filling station,but if i could get some local would be nice.iwent to our hyd. place lots of hem & haw,any ideas?copper?steel?rubber? i drive these often and would like to have pece of mind. thanks jack

Depending on the routing, you might be able to use steel brake-line tubing.

I did this on my '41 De Soto about 15 years / 20,000 miles ago, when one of the old rubber flex-lines let go out on the highway !

( I thought my bearings were noisy as it was... then I heard them at 50 MPH w/o any oil-pressure !!!! :eek::eek::eek: )

I used 1/4" brake-line tubing, carefully bending it to avoid kinks.

If you're concerned about vibration, get enough tubing so that you can put an 360-degree loop in each tube.

It was a little tough bending-up the tubes for my De Soto, but the results are worth it , in my opinion.

Perhaps there's another hydraulic shop near you that could do flex-lines ?
