JZRIV
No. A non switch pitch converter can not be used on a tranny designed for variable pitch. The input shaft/pump assembly is different.

JZRIV
AAMCO or any competant Transmission shop will sell rebuilt ones. They'll probably want your old one for a core.
Guest 40series
Most transmission shops will send your core out for rebuild since there are none to speak of in the core system that they use to buy from. I have several convertors that I can have rebuilt locally since one of the national suppliers is local to me or I have some that where good (meaning I personally drove the car) or I can sell just a core for rebuilding. RivNut
If you're looking to improve the accelation and performance that you get from an ST400 and you have to purchase a converter anyway, consider buying the converter that was used in the Skylark GS's that had the 401 ('65 - '66.) It's a 12" converter rather than a 13" converter. It will give you a higer stall speed when the converter is in the high stall mode. Because it is smaller, you'll also want to run an inline transmission cooler with it. But the 60 ft. times you get at the strip are quicker, and your e.t.'s will be lower as well. It's a bolt on, no modifications to anything are necessary.Ed
