My 47 Super seems to have a tight gear ratio(my guess is over 4 to 1).I have a 48 parts car ,if I want to use it for replacement ring and pinon. My vin in the 47 is 44659593.Can I identify the gear ratio from it.

Straight -eight

Both are three speed manual trannies.Would the rear end from a 48 or later dyna-flow offer a more road friendly ratio. Can anyone tell me what ratio my super currently has.

Hi,

I owned a '50 Super stick shift that the dealer installed a Dynaflow rear axle assy in after a rear end collision. It was a great road car with the higher ratio, not only speed wise but also with gas mileage. The car would run 85 mph in second gear without a problem. I'd check on a later Dynaflow equipped car for a whole rear axle assy. I think that'd help you a lot.
