1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Coupe J-2

Oldsmobile started the muscle car race when it introduced the Super 88 in the early 1950s. The Super 88 was equipped with a 4bbl carburetor and a lower rearend gear ratio for quicker acceloration. In 1956, the Super 88 added optional dual exhaust to help the engine breath better. In 1957, the epitome of the Oldsmobile "Hot Rod" was the J-2 version of the new 371 cubic inch engine and dual exhaust became standard for the model. The tripower topped Rocket was boasted as having 300 horsepower and 400 foot pounds of torque which made the Super 88 a true Road Rocket!

This 33K original mile car was purchased new by a woman who must have needed to get through traffic in a hurry! This Super 88 is equipped with not only the infamous J-2 tripower Rocket 371, but also has power steering and brakes, clock, Deluxe radio, back-up lights, courtesy light package, dual exhaust, wide white walls, and full wheel covers. I went through the brakes, the engine was rebuilt about 5K miles ago. The driver's side of the seat cushion is worn through, but I have included with the car all NOS upholstery needed to redo the front seat. The exhaust could use updating. The car starts easily and runs great. With only 33K original miles, the rest of the mechanics are all in good shape making the car an easy restoration. The colors on the car are Banff Blue and Victorian White with an Artesion Blue divider stripe. The car has very little rust repair required...there's a tiny hole on the left quarter, some repair required at the bottom of both front fenders and a small hole detected under the gas pedal. The dash pad has also cracked and the windshield and driver's side door glass will need replacement.

As you can see in the pictures, the body work was started on the right side of the car and was performed at a body shop prior to my purchase.
