Differential Gear Oil

Aloha all,

As part of the process of making the Honolulu Lulu, a "17 DB touring, road worthy, we dismounted the differential cover. No metal chunks and gear teeth showing little evidence of abuse.

So, the question is now one of learning what gear lube you guys are using. Have the heavy weight, steam cylinder oil for the rebuilt tranny. That stuff is so thick, I can't imagine it being used in the rear end.

Your thoughts, if you don't mind.

Mahalo.

It needs to be thick "goo" otherwise it will leak too much oil from the brake control shaft lubricator holes. Four small holes are drilled in the rear of the drive shaft housing to lubricate the ends of these shafts with rear axle oil. (Sorry i have forgotten the name of these 4 shafts and I am on holiday so I can't find out) cheers, John
