thekat380sl
Good Evening Everyone,I came across your forum while doing a google search for a friend of mine who recently found some vintage enamel radiator badges in his grandfather's attic. I'm trying to help him identify them since I think he's trying to find out if his grandfather ever owned any of these cars. There are 4 badges he sent me pictures of (and I know they're small). Is there anyone out there who can help me identify them? There is 1 Pontiac Badge, 1 Nash Badge, 1 Packard Badge and 1 that I have no clue about.Any help would be greatly appreciated! You guys have a great forum; my own car is an '82 Mercedes Benz 380SL Convertible; it might not be antique yet, but if I'm fortunate enough, I'll still have it when it is!Cheers,Brennan
Dave Mellor NJ
I wonder if that Packard badge came from a truck. The "F" could be Franklin, the Pontiac looks like 30-31 radiator. Your 82 Mercedes has been "antique" for three years.
Steve Braverman
The old English F is definitely Franklin. Probably 1925-28.
keiser31
My 1929 Franklin had a grille shell emblem like that one.
thekat380sl
Thanks for the help, guys. I really appreciate it. I'll have to see if I can dig up any Packard truck pictures online to see if the badge my friend has matches up.
Dave Mellor NJ
Look on the side of the hood. Packard didn't make trucks many years, probably late teens to early twenties. I thought some nash guys would help on that emblem. The beautiful emblems' finish is called cloissone`(kloy-zon-nay)
keiser31
The Nash emblem is about 1926.
Ozstatman
G'day Brennan,The Packard emblem or badge looks similar to those on the rear bumpers of late '30's Junior Packards here in Australia. They are about 5&1/2" long, are bolted to the middle of the rear bumper and the lettering is indented into the metal. From what I can see of yours the lettering appears to be raised. Here's a pic of one on the rear bumper of the '38 1601 I used to own. And a pic of one on the rear bumper of the '37 1501 currently being stored in my garage for my mate. There is another on the rear bumper of a '39 1701 currently at my mate's workshop(sorry no pic). thekat380sl
Hi Guys,Thanks again for all your help a little while back with the badges; I actually picked them up from my friend earlier today and have just taken some better pictures of them. None are perfect, but they are a neat little piece of history. There was also one 40s/50s GM moulding found, which I am posting in a different thread. There were some additional emblems my friend found; they are included in the pictures. Two Plymouth badges, one Oldsmobile, one Ford, one Chandler, one Oakland and one from a Buick 8. Could you guys help me positively identify these? The earlier guess at the Packard emblem seems correct; it looks like the '38 Packard rear bumper with the red indented lettering. Sadly, this piece is probably in the worst condition of the lot.Anyway, your help is very much appreciated. Thanks again,Brennan
keiser31
The rectangular Plymouth emblem looks to be about 1930. The other Plymouth nameplate looks exactly like the one on a 1939 Plymouth that I owned.
thekat380sl
Thanks for the Plymouth info.
Dave Mellor NJ
That Ford emblem is 28-30 Model A. in 31 they changed to stainless. In 32 they went back to blue cloissone`but it was slightly curved. Some of these badges were on sidemount covers, too.

thekat380sl
I've spoken to my friend and he is interested in selling them. He thought they may have belonged to a car his grandfather owned, but there are too many of them for that to be true. More likely his grandfather collected them. If anyone is interested in an emblem, please let me know through pm or email. Otherwise, I'll probably try to sell them online for him over the next few weeks.
