Guest ralsy
I know that this has probably been covered before but here goes again. I am looking at buying a 69 442 and am having problems working out the vin# and Cowltag # as matching to a 442. I know that there were a few 69 442 that had cutlass cowl tag #s and 442 vin#s, but from the info that I have found and there doesn't seem to be that much around it is confusing me. The vin# (344779M114432) is correct for a 442 but the cowl# (69 33677 lan 117565) is confusing me. The owner has the original paperwork which I have only seen photos of. There is documentation which states the vin# as a 442 but not the cowl tag#. Any help would be much appreciated
joe_padavano
It wasn't a "few" 442s that got the Cutlass cowl tag, it was MOST of the 1968 and 1969 cars. This is well documented in the 1968 and 1969 Fisher body manuals. My 1969 Hurst/Olds, which was a Lansing-built car, also has a Cutlass body tag.
