Olds 442
Can anyone tell me what kind of car this windshied hinge is from? It measures 11 inches overall and the arms are 1 inch wide.
1937hd45
Looks like a "Hartford" style friction shock absorber for a light weight car.

Guest Gary Hearn
It has been a lot of years, but they look similar to what my brother had on a '48 Willys CJ2A.
Layden B
The arms and "star" center tension spring are quite similar to a friction shock but the dimples from the spring side that seem to go into corresponding domes on the other half would make this unit unfit for a smooth acting shock absorber. It looks like it would detent into multiple locations like a windshield hinge but the arms don't seem the right shape and only have one hole each.
