michaelod
I recently acquired a 1930 Buick Model 68 Victoria coupe and found a series of parts in the trunk. I am trying to identify what these parts are. Some may or may not go with the car, although I am not sure. Any help in identifying what these parts are would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,MichaelPart #1:Appears to be some sort of anti-theft device as it has a key cylinder built into the center portion.Part #2:May be related to part #1Part #3:May be related to part #1Part #4:Something with a small gear. Not a clue.Part #5:Buick Taillight? Not sure of the year but I believe it to be before 1930.Part #6:A group of three parts that may be related as they were in the same bag. Not sure about this though.Part #7:Two broken pieces of a strap or brace of some kind perhaps? Not sure if they were part of the same piece or individual parts. Jagged edge of each does not match up to well with the other.Part #8:Two pieces of channel. Most likely from the interior of the car. What are they and where do they go?Note: Ran out of room for attachments so I will continue in a second message.
Larry Schramm
The far right part in 6 and the parts in 8 look like window channels for the actuator arms in a more current car. Like at least 1960 and above. The rollers for the window actuators run in those. Do not recognize the year, but look like GM.
Leif Holmberg
My guess is No.1 and 2 lock for spare tire. No.3 washer for door stop. No.4 door lock. No.5 1920-1926. No.6 right and no.8 glass chanels. Leif in Sweden. Edited October 12, 2009 by Leif Holmberg (see edit history)

michaelod
I wish to extend my gratitude to those that responded to my query. I believe that I have a pretty good idea what these parts are now. I discovered that part #3 is a blanking plate that goes on the gas tank for those cars that have sidemounts (as my car does) and do not have the rear spare tire mount.Leif, where did you come across the diagrams and info on the locking sidemount device. Was this an aftermarket item? Thanks,Michael
