Guest daddio
I have been told this is about a 1911 Poppin Johnny Marine engine, with a modified model A or T distributor. It has been sitting under the shelves for a few years and I'm thinking about selling it or making a display. More info would be great either way. It does still turn over and was supposedly running 10 years ago. Any of you guys know for sure? Thanks,Daddio
Guest AONEMACH
Looks like a early marine engine.
Guest mercman86
Ive seen those types of motors in sail boats for motoring out of the harbor or in small antique runabouts. Not sure of a make though.
Layden B
Looks like a period timer on the vertical shaft. It would in turn ground and fire 3 ignition coils, one for each cylinder.

CarlLaFong
Poppin' Johnny or Johnny Popper is a nickname for the 2 cylinder John Deere. I doubt Poppin' Johnny is the trade name for your engine

1937hd45
Look for an early 1950's SAAB 3 cylinder distributor if you want to run it.

Guest daddio
Thank you Manuel. I checked the website on old marine engines you referred me to. It is a 1912 Tuttle. They were way ahead of their time with a rotary valve. Marine- industrial- trucks
