Hupp36
My second car was 1948 Pacard with an electromatic clutch. Push the knob on the dash in and you only needed to use the clutch when you came to a complete stop. Did you know that 48 Packard could peel rubber while in motion on dry pavement. Get the car rolling in first gear about 10 mph, let off the gas and jam it to the floor. Mine was an 8 cyl, I do not know if the 6 cyl would or not. Guest DeSoto Frank
Successful enough that Packard offered the "Electro-Clutch / Electromatic Drive" from 1941 through at least 1948... probably available until the Ultramatic was intro'd.Ineteresting promo car... I'm especially intrigued by the fender-skirts; never saw them on a '40s Packard.
