Delco Ignition Points

Recommended Posts

The points on my '16 DB are gone. I'm having a heck of a time locating points or an acceptable substitute. What works for Northeast doesn't mesh with Delco. Since these distributors were used on many makes of that era, I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. There is no model number for this distributor, only patent dates of 1912,1914, 1915.

PM or email vergil@ix.netcom.com. Thanks!

Usually you just slide the point button through the hole in the point arm and peen it like you would a rivet. I use to have a lot of these 'buttons', but can't find them anymore. You do'nt have to weld them in though.

I looked up your application in my Gilfillan catalog # Ten 1917-1927 and many cars besides Dodge used your parts.

Gilfillan #DD-11 = Screw contact point; DD-12 = Arm contact point; DD-16 = Rotor.

They list 1918 Buick 4 cyl;

1918-20 Buick 6 cyl;

1920-23 Case models V, X, W

1916 Cole with Delco Dist #5153

1918-19 Cunningham

1917-22 Davis

1916-22 Elcar

1921-24 H.C.S.

1917 Kissel

1917-24 Meteor

same era Moon; Nash; Oakland

1922-25 Packard with Delco Dist #5249

With so many using the same parts that is why so few are still around.

I think replacing the arm contact point is probably the easiest route or just plan a few long days at Hershey going through baby food jars of old contacts on all the tables.
