Guest 34 Pierce Guy
I'm curious what this axle belongs to. It has an odd wheel setup where two rims are connected, making one wheel with two tires on each side. Thoughts?
Layden B
Center part looks like Model T or 1928-29 Model A Ford truck worm gear differential ( upside down), the outers could have been grafted on.
Dandy Dave
20's TT Ford Truck or 1928 AA one ton. It was very common to use these in home built "doodle bug" tractors in the 50's as it had a very low gear ratio, and they were tested tough. This one has had a pile of modifications and I would venture to guess that it was once in a doddle Bug. Dandy Dave! Guest 34 Pierce Guy
Thanks for the information! The double tire wheels threw me off.
Dandy Dave
For the first three months of production, the the 1928 Model AAA one ton Ford Truck had 6 X 20 inch wire wheels with a locking ring. This however was a single wheel on each side. Dandy Dave!
Layden B
Wasn't the worm gear rear end with wire wheels ( and 3 speed transmission) replaced with bevel gear differential, disc wheels and 4 speed transmission in summer of 1929? That would be before the introduction of the 1930 Model year, more like a year and 3 months of production.
