RickBrinker Posted April 26, 2009 Share Posted April 26, 2009 Can a trans.be in 2 gears at the same time,I went to drivemy 29 DeSoto this morning and when I tried to back up it wouldn't move until I put it in second gear and moved forward a little then it would back up. keiser31 Posted April 27, 2009 Share Posted April 27, 2009 It's starting to sound like a maladjustment in the brake shoes. Sometimes a brake shoe will hang up so the car won't budge and then going forward and then backward breaks it loose. I could be way off, but I never experienced a transmission getting stuck in a forward AND reverse gear at the same time. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
