Cool...I really hope that Rainier is a V8...I'm pretty sure the inline 6 wouldn't get the job done, unless perhaps it was just chassis and body.

Derek,

Yes it is the V8 AWD CXL Model, towing capacity is 7800 lbs. the Wildcat is 4200 and the trailer is 1800, not a problem for the Rainier.

DSC01776.jpg Even towed this Baby home with no problems.

There are days I regret having gotten the 6, particularly when the fuel economy isn't what I would expect from a 6...they should have dropped in the 3800 instead grin.gif

Looking great! I have a some questions. What type of media was used to strip the car?

Are you doing the primer coats yourself? How about the final paint?

Jason, Thank you

Plastic media was used to strip the land yacht, Paul Puzza is doing the painting, sanding and fabrication of all patches, he's local Buick Guy. Final paint will be a super gloss enamel mixed by Auto Paint Pro. Met him at the Syracuse Nationals in 08 and is alot cheaper than the local paint store. 888PAINT44 is his toll free number. The last car Paul did for me was my 1969 GS350.

If a custom paint job is what someone wants to do on a Wildcat, I'd like to see orange with black stripes...or a yellow / cream with black spots. crazy.gifcool.gifgrin.gif

Maybe I should just get a model and try it on the smaller scale...I don't think Ellie would appreciate that change.

Derek, Queen Mary III will be high gloss black, want her to look like a piece of black ice. All the chrome is being done by Sandy's Bumper Mart in Syracuse.

John, before we get to clear coat it, there be lots of wet sanding and buffing. Wet sanded a corner of the rear quarter, and still not completely cure, so decided to give it another day of curing, air is very humid due to rain in the air.

The Queen Mary III is in the process of getting wet sanded, half way there, should be done by early or mid next week.

The Queen Mary III has been finished with the wet sanding and earlier this week, three coats of clear were applied. The Wildcat has been placed in a tent to cure for few days before the more wet sanding and polishing starts.

This weekend I took the GS350 to the Syracuse Nationals, while there I pick up the bumpers, headlight bezels, taillights bezels for the Wildcat from Sandy's Bumper Mart. Starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. :D

Stevo, consideriing I had front bumper, rear bumper (3 pieces) tail light bezels (2) head light bezels (2) head light trim rings (4) grille surround (3 pieces) hood spear (1 piece) signal light bezels (2 pieces) and 2 sail panel pieces for 64 Mercury for about 3800.00 The work is great, very happy, this is the 3 time we have used Sandy's Bumper Mart.

That sounds like a very reasonable cost for that amount of work. If you have been happy in the past, that is great advertising. What kind of turn around time did you experience? Being that Syracuse is only about 150 from here, I willhave to write that down and keep it for future reference. I get to Syracuse and Cicero about 4 or 5 times a month.

Stevo, the turn around is between 8 to 10 weeks, provided no commerical accounts flood him with work. The amount of stuff you drop off will also determine the amount of time for returns.

There has been no updates due the fact that last weekend was the Buick Nationals in Hebron, Ohio where they had the first ever GSX Reunion. I took the 71 GSX and had a ton of fun with all the other GSX owners and regular Buick guys and gals. A few pictures of the event.

John, yes, there was everything you can think of there. The other Buicks were parked on the other end of the track near the entrance. There also were the racers with their Turbo 6 Cars, 455 drag cars. It was like being in a candy store with no supervision :D

Tuesday, I took the Queen Mary III to a 9/11 show @ Adams in Newburgh, where it won 2nd place in the 1920 to 1964 production class. There were some other Buicks there, 1970 Wildcat also won in her class.

Sunday took the Queen Mary III and the GSx to 27th Annual Road Knights Show, where they had like 500 cars, from street rods to modern muscle. Got a lot of comments on the weird 4 door hardtop with a 4 speed " I never seen a 4 door with 4 speed" Some pictures of the other Buicks present.
