Restorer32
What is the story behind these? Who built them?
Guest Fayt
There were 12 of them built in 1977, they cost $30,000 new in 1977.Made by Lincoln that is about all I know about them. It is extremely hard to find any any information on this truck since there were only 12 of them, that means only 12 people in the world own them, and most likely 6 or so still run. I am not sure if the VIN number would show anymore information or not?Edit: Here is some more information about it.Auto transmission, 460 Engine, electric windows and door locks, am/fm/8 track player radio, power antenna, cruise control, alarm system, vinyl top and sides of bed, spare tire & jack in compartment in bed of truck, trailer hitch. Restorer32
If there is so little info how do you know they were made by Lincoln? Just curious.
Guest Fayt
Well it is branded with the Lincoln symbol. This one was shipped from California so it's possible that maybe a private designer or a private auto maker made it just for Lincoln?
keiser31
That is one funky rear window, but different.
Guest Fayt
Yeah an Oval one. I hope to sell it soon, so I can get my son his own business. I can meet someone up to 200 miles away.
Guest BruceW
I did a quick Google search. Walter Miller Literature currently has a sale sheet for sale on Ebay for a Lincoln Continental Mark V "Coloma" produced by the Caribou Motor Company in San Fransicso. It is item Number 7237295868 and the URL is:http://cgi.ebay.com/1979-Lincoln-Mark-V-...DefaultDomain_0The Ebay listing says it is a 1979.. but the ad has a large photo of the vehicle and it looks just like the one in the photos above... except it is white. It even has the same oval rear window.Caribou also converted Cadillacs into pickups. http://www.car-nection.com/yann/Dbas_txt/Drm85-86.htm and http://cgi.ebay.com/1977-1981-Cadillac-C...219118010r29409 It appears that the Caribou conversions could be purchased as a completed vehicle or as a kit with instructions.Just for a follow on....Walter Miller also two more literature pieces on Lincoln pickups. One is a newpaper article on a company in Florida that converts Lincolns into pickups. The one in the article is a 1979 Model but I don't think it looks as good as the 1977 conversion done by Caribou. That article is Item Number 350097704492 and is at:http://cgi.ebay.com/1979-Lincoln-Mark-V-...DefaultDomain_0The second pice is a newpaper advertisement for a Lincoln converted into a pickup called the MK V "St. Tropez" by American Custom Coachwork. The item number is 350097704492 and is at:http://cgi.ebay.com/1979-Lincoln-Mark-V-...p3286.m20.l1116
Guest Fayt
Yeah the 1979 is very close to it. It's possible that Caribou Motor Company made this truck. About 2 years ago I did see another 1977 one like this that wasn't in very good shape. But this is such a unique car or truck.
Guest Fayt
I talked to the previous owner today. He said when it was bought in 1977, you bought the Mark V car brand new from the Lincoln dealership, then for an extra $30,000 they would redesign it into the truck. However it was a limited offer for only 12 of them. He is trying to find the original paperwork on it.

Guest bonita
Hi there, I just inherited one of these 1979 Lincoln Mark V trucks. Dont know much about it, except for its rarity. It was converted by the Caribou company straight out of the factory. Anyways, if there is any interest in buying this thing, please post or email me. It is white with red leather interior, a few rust spots on the body but nothing major, interior seats need redo, runs and drives great.
