Guest macmic87
are the block castings the same from a 1941 compared to a 1950 block?
The Old Guy
The 1950 used 2 different blocks. They had a 248 CI, and a 263 CI in the small series, and the 320 in the big series. The 41 engine was a 248 in the small series, and did not have the engine mount castings that the 50 engine had. The 41 used a plate mounted to the front, and the 50 had side mounts. The 41 plate can be used on the 50 engine, but if you have compound carbs, the exhaust manifold will not clear the 1950 side mount.
Guest macmic87
thanks for the info. that just saved me having to make a decision about bidding on a 1950 block.
