What is an ALPHA?

Does anyone out there know what this emblem plate is from? Is it for a car? It says "ALPHA" in the center and "DDSCo" on the bottom. It is brass. The triangle is 5"x5"x5".

While that's the way some people spell Alfa Romeo, it's not for an Alfa.

West....that is what I am trying to figure out as to whether it is for a car or not. I sorta knew it wasn't for an Alfa Romeo since it is spelled differently. Thanks, though.

Alpha was a Ferrari look-a-like kit car developed by Eagle and made by Alpha Design & Engineering of Huntington Beach, California, 1983 to 1985. Your badge looks much older and the letters DDSC do not tie up. So it is not that Alpha car.

Alpha, made in N.Y, N.Y. in 1903, one cylinder runabout. Yea, I had to look it up.

I looked it up too, and what's intriguing is that after the one Alpha was made, the gent partnered with another man to form the De Dietrich Import Co. to sell the French De Dietrich auto in the USA. Wouldn't it be cool if DDSCo was the sales arm of the small import company?

And they tried to peddle the lone Alpha?

I belive Alpha was a fairly popular line of utility farm engines {hit and miss style}. There is a good chance your tag is from one of them.

I have a listing for Alpha stationary engines by the DeLaval Separator Co. Chicago Il.

Doesn't expain the DDSCO.

Take a look at the tag on the milking machine. Not the same tag, but the same logo.

It may explain it because I believe it was D. DeLaval Separator Company originally. Thanks.
