MCHinson
I THINK that it is a 50's or 60's Canadian Mercury Truck Hood Ornament. Whenever I get some free time, I will try to look it up in a couple of Ford Truck books that I have at the house.
Jim Rohn
thanks! I will look that direction in researching it, thanks again

Dave Mellor NJ
Only truck with a hood emblem that I can find is this 60 and it's a block letter M.
jajolee
it could be for a canadian meteor from the 50's
Jim Rohn
the part number is what has me stumped ... are they that different from the US part numbers to the Canadian ones? I would swear it was a GM part number if it din't say FoMoCo ... :-)
Dave Mellor NJ
The Canadian Meteor is the rebadged Ford as in this 58. The M letter is nothing like the one in the post.
Dave Mellor NJ
The "M" from this 62 Meteor script is kinda similar but I can't think of where your plate would have been mounted. Maybe it's a rear seat speaker trim.
roysboystoys
Possibly on the back seat cushion, on the top , near the shelf. Usually on hardtop or convertible. Late 50's , early 60's. Just a guess.
Fleek
I thought about the rear seat emblem too, but here is a pic of one for a 55-56 mercury.
Guest prs519
I have to agree with Hinson, mainly because the styling of the ornament appears to be nearly identical to Ford pickuptruck hood emblems from about 1958-1967. I think if you were blindfolded, you could not tell the Ford version fromthe Canadian Merc pickup version which you pictured..

Fleek
Nearest M script to yours seems to be a mid 50's Mercury Monterey side trim.

30DodgePanel
I'm assuming the one on the left is a lid for the gas fill tube ? Very cool cars - I love these old station wagons / woodies from that era cause they really had a lot of character and unique features that were not very common...
