Vintman
Hi Folks,Many Thanks to LaydenB Ivan Saxton, and Elmo39 for all the info on the Star/Rugby. Seams not a positive identification but very close. Perhaps a Rugby. Most helpful so will keep pursuing. We at the Surrey Vintage Vehicle Society (United Kingdom) have an active Help Page on our website (currently a new one at http://www.svvs.org/help18.shtml) where the general public can get free assistance with identification of old cars from old photos. We have a number of 'Americans' on which we are temporarily stuck, such as the one attached, and would appreciate any assistance. Photographed in Saginaw Co., Michigan.Kind RegardsVintman www. svvs.org
Vintman
Hi folks,Any thoughts yet on what this car is??RegardsVintman www.svvs.org
Chris Paulsen
Neat photo. Without checking any references, it looks like a mid-sized model 1912 Stoddard-Dayton. The Michigan license plate on the radiator makes it hard to tell if the Stoddard-Dayton "scallops" are in the corners.I hope this helps,Chris

Manuel
There may be some scallops there. Were they the same height as the mudguards?Manuel in Oz
Vintman
Hi Folks,Thanks to Chris Paulsen, keiser31, and Manuel for the info. Was in France for a few days, so was not able to thank you. Seem you are right. Probably a 1911/12 Stoddard Dayton. The original photo had to have the front lightened to show more of the rad area. Photo is not clear on the scallops. From subsequent investigation it seems in 1911 the mudguards appear to have been straight, and would hide the scallops, and in 1912 the mudguards were rounded. Many other things match, especially the very spindly one piece starting handle, headlamp mounts, the differing wheel hubs, the windscreen supports etc. Thanks guys. Another one bites the dust. However I have some more that have hung about for a while so will be posting soon.Regards to allVintman (UK)www.svvs.org
