Grandpa
Hi,If someone has a 1950 to 1960s GM parts book, please help me ID an NOS GM muffler given to me by a friend. My friend thought that the muffler is for a Buick straight eight. The body of the circular muffler is 30 inches long by 6 inches in diameter. The inlet is 2½ inches in diameter. The outlet is 2 inches in diameter. The inlet and outlet connections are centered. The muffler is a straight through design. The muffler is marked with part number 2306634. The date of manufacture is 4-65.Thanks,Grandpa
Guest
The number series is more like a GMC truck number. It is far too short to be a straight eight Buick muffler. They were over four fet long in the post war era.
Mark Shaw
It looks like it is for a Buick six cyl car or truck between 1920 & 1930.
Guest
Too many didgets for 20's and 30's and wrong series for Buick. GM part numbers were the purchase order numbers for the original order of parts. Each division had their own series. Most didn't get into seven didgets until the very late thirties and some not until post war.
Dave@Moon
My 1964 Buick parts book goes back to 1937. That number doesn't appear in it. Would "4 65" be a manufacture date?
