1988 1990 ECM's

Can I swap a 1988 Reatta ECM with a 1990 Reatta ECM? I am having passkey VATS trouble and the 88 and 89's don't use the passkey. I was wondering if I were to swap in the old to the newer will that work? As the ecm wont be looking for the Passkey module.

Or will just swapping out the PROM do the trick from the 88 to the 90?

I believe the BCM & ECM for 88 thru 90 are the same (dealer information). The E-Prom in the ECM & the two chips in the BCM are specific to each car. I don't think what you are suggesting will work. Probably someone on the Forum Has Been There, Done That. I'm sure someone with that Technical Knowledge will respond shortly.
