If anyone knows where one would find the window seal kit

for a 1956 Buick Special, Riviera(model 46R) 2 door hard-

top with no post, I would very much appreciate it. This and

a Transmission Dip stick filler tube are keeping me from going forward with my renovation on this car. It seems as if

parts for this Car are as rare as Hen's teeth and would like

to chat with anyone that has this car. Thanks ! Mark.

Welcome to the AACA Discussion Forum.

I can't help you with your Buick, but....

You need to take a look at the other discussion where you asked about the transmission dipstick. Mr Earl has offered to send you one if you give him your address. You can check out his offer in the following discussion:

Thanks, Scott! I'll check it out. All the glass places are

telling me they are afraid of bending the chrome frame around

the windows and would have to break the glass to get it out,

leaving them no pattern to cut the glass with. So I'm thinking

I may need to get the chrome window frames as well. So goes the life of guys like us who have these old beauties.

Thanks again for your help, Mark.

Mark, I pulled the chrome frames off my windows without much trouble just takes patience. Lay the glass perectly flat and saturate the rubber with silicone for about two days (remove the screws first). Then gently pry the seam of the frame apart at the corner. Then tap the trim with a plastic hammer from the end only and it will work it's way off the window just keep the window flat on the bench and you should have no trouble. As far as a glass patern is concerned I found a gentleman out west that has a patern for most flat windows. He quoted me about $250.00 plus SH

for all six side windows and he will use a tinted laminant if you want. He does not put the safety stencles on the glass, but you can have someone else do that if you need to. I'm on a different computer and can't remember the link so I'll post it later tonight.

Appreciate you taking the time to let me know that. Relacing

Two Quarter panels and one front side window may cost me more

than I paid for the car with the quotes I been given for the

seals, sweepers, glass etc. Not all glass places want to deal

with old cars like we have. If I can get past this challenge

I can start on another phase of restoration, something easy like putting fuzzy dice on the rearview mirror, Ha!

Thanks Again, Mark
