Maineloans
Hello all. This picture is not great, but wonder if anyone can help identify the car. Is it Buick or Caddy? Picture taken circa 1930. I believe it is my great uncle Sam in the driver seat. You can also just make out the gas pump on the left. My grandfather and his brothers opened up a Gulf gas station near their barn around this time, where they operated a taxi business and vehicle storage. Ivan Saxton
Proportions are wrong, and too small a car, too short a wheelbase for anything like Cadillac. For instance, the 314 cadillac brougham was on the short 132" wheelbase, and this was a 2 door closed car. The back of the body finished over the rear axle, and behind that was a tray with a trunk fastened to it. It may be a something like a late version of what Essex called their "Coach". It is difficult to say exactly because of indistinct image. Ivan Saxton
TG57Roadmaster
Thanks Ivan, it's a 1928 Essex Coach, featured on page 52 of American Motors Family Album, First Edition, February, 1969. No doubt about it!TG
