I JUST BOUGHT A 1941 CHEVROLET SPECIAL DELUXE WOODY WAGON. DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT YET, STILL LOOKING FOR VIN NUMBERS. FOUND NUMBERS ON TOP OF TRANS. ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO GET INFORMATION ON HISTORY,PARTS,WOOD KITS,AND VIN DECODING ON THESE CARS. I'VE HEARD THEY ARE VERY RARE.

According to my info, the Serial Number location should be "on plate on right side of floor pan in front of front seat." Range of numbers for Special DeLuxe; AH-1001 to AH-92374.

The Motor Number can be found on the right side of motor block near fuel pump.

Range of Motor numbers; AA-1001 to AA-1163729. Tonawanda (NY) AC-1001 to AC-195459.

Most often back then, the "VIN" is the Motor Number. It's not something that can be "decoded" like modern VIN's. Look on the firewall under the hood to see if there's a Body Data Plate. If so, there may be Paint and Trim combination codes; you'll need a Body Manual to interpret those numbers. You should invest in both Body & Chassis shop manuals anyway.

Hope this helps.
