JohnD1956 Posted May 1, 2008 Share Posted May 1, 2008 That is the vacuum servo which opens a door in the A/C unit. I don't have a schematic of the 65 A/C unit but it could be anyone of three possibilities: That might be the door for the outside air vent when the A/C and heater is in the normal operating position. When you run the A/C on Max ( or whatever that setting says- recirc maybe?) then this door will close and the system will draw inside cabin air through a vent just below the glove compartment. Or it could be the door to open the passage to allow air to be forced around the heater coreOr it could be the door that switches the air flow from the dash vents to the heater vent at the floor, except this is most unlikely because that one ought to be inside the cabin of the car, not under the hood.
