Olds rocket engine & trans part no. ID help!

Hi everyone, I'm in the UK. I have a question regarding the engine number and trans number I have in my hot rod - I'm trying to find out the spec, and when they were manufactured etc. if anyone can help. I was told it is a 303 from 1953 and it has a Hydramatic with it, assuming 4 speed.

The number on the engine, and this is on the block on the drivers side a little below and to the rear of the head, is R64097.

The trans plate has 052-35419 on it.

I bought the roadster complete but in a real mess and had it imported to the UK about 5 years ago. It is a 1927 T roadster. If anyone is interested I can post some pictures a little later - it's in a much better state now!!

Rob, According to an old "Motor" manual it looks your s/n R64097 was issued in 1952 and yes, it's 303.7 cu.in. First 52 s/n was R1001. First 1953 Olds engine s/n is listed as R215001.

Thanks Dr Watson, that's great. I don't suppose you have any reference material on the tran number do you? Being devils advocate someone may have just added this, but thought it was worth looking into.
