Guest imported_BaronvonR
There were 5,176 Deluxe Coupes and 498 Custom coupes produced. Which do you have??As far as how many are left perhaps the National DeSoto Club could help you out.BvR
Guest elmo39
There was no way to tell the differance between a custom or deluxe from the exterior, the only way was through the interior trim , the custom interior had darker upholstery than the deluxe. Guest James S Cooper
The interior of this car is light seat and doors with a darker floor.Right or wrong I had been told that there had been 498 of this car made.It has the o/d trans and 228 eng. Guest James S Cooper
According to De Sotoland there were only 1316 De Soto's made in windsor in 1939 and Customs and Deluxe are listed together.I'm trying to find out how many were Coupes. Guest imported_BaronvonR
The DeSoto Plymouth story is where I got my numbers from...it seems to be accurate for US production. The way to tell a Deluxe from a custom was that the front mat was carpet and not rubber. The O/D tranny could be on either model. I have a 1939 Deluxe 2 dr sedan with the O/DBvR

Guest steveland
Hello to everyone,I've recently bought a 1939 Desoto 4-passenger Coupe, usually named opera coupè because she have a business coupe external body with two seats more inside. she has overdrive an lot of accessory like double hi-tone horns, white wall tires, radio, electric windshild wiper, carpet on the floor, heater with electric fan etc. so I've deducted she a Custom, not a De Luxebecause I've read on a Chrisler book the difference was carpets and accessory...I've bought it from a gentleman in Canada but the car came from California, she's original and in good condition. This model year has a beautifull body style!Could anyone help me with the decodification of the tag on the firewall?Thank you so much in advance for your attention and help!Stefano LandiItaly.
