West Peterson
Boy. You sure like to present a challenge don't you? Not much there to identify, but the group here has surprised me many times with hardly a clue to go by.
1937hd45
I'm not home to check a few books but I'll guess Hudson mid 1920's.
Layden B
Rear hubcap looks small for a Hudson, would guess Essex.

I think it could well be a 1920-23 Hudson.
Ivan Saxton
One of my friends had a late 1918 (judging by casting dates)Hudson. Fender type and louvre style conform, so if it is Hudson, it could be as early as Dave suggests. I dont know how long before they changed.(Was the little book any help, Dave?)Ivan Saxton

Mike Cullen
It does look like a re-touch job of the era, like a mirror or sidemount was "removed" to cleanup an overexposed negative.
Ivan Saxton
The one Henry Formby used to have did have a right side side-mounted spare. It had 25" eaded edge Houk wire wheels, and had originally been a town car body, but cut into a ute. The diff had committed harikari with 13,000 miles on the speedo. Terry Bond
Hudson yup. Interesting photo and it has been retouched. My guess is either there was another person in the photo that has been eliminated,or the lady has been added in place of someone. It was very common to do that - put a picture of a dead relative in the back seat, delete someone who you didn't want to be seen with, or whatever. Guest DonCoatney
My thanks to all who replied. Looks like it is a Hudson.
