This <span style="font-style: italic">probably </span> is not the kind of problem most people would run into, but I did nonetheless. As long as it doesn't leak and is turned off, it won't hurt anything--aside from having to work around it, that is--and adds value to the car. It's just that up to this time the thing has just been <span style="font-style: italic">in the way</span>, and not too helpful to have around.Maybe someday I'll fix it up. Guest imported_49packard Posted May 27, 2007 Share Posted May 27, 2007 I also experienced somewhat the same problem-I was directed to a small hole between the firewall and the steering gear. I squirted a lubricant not WD40 into the hole working the gearshift back and forth. After about 10 minutes it loosened up and shifted freely. I'd done some searches before starting the work and had seen the posts about that lubrication point. I was really pretty surprised when it turned out to be what it was; that is, binding inside that bushing. The shaft was really torn up. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
