Guest my3buicks
It appears to be a Special Deluxe - tell us more. What engine, options, etc. ?is the number inside your drivers door pillar 43517 or 43617?
Guest dayvd1960
It's 43517. The only option I know of at this point(considering I have no idea what options were available on this car) is air conditioning.300 2 barrel, 2 speed automaticIt appears the front bumper is stainless steel? Is this normal?
Guest my3buicks
No, a stainless front bumper is not normal - the model 3517 had a production run of 2333 units, it's the same model as mine. The Air, 300, and auto are all options
Guest dayvd1960
Okay so I woke up this morning and slapped myself in the haid and muttered "well duh".According to the "owners manual" which was laying in the glove box in clear sight of anyone who wanted to know what options were available for this car.... We have the standard Sonomatic radio, no headrests, no shoulder belts, no speed alert and no auto cruise. And because we have no A.I.R. system I'm assuming the car wasn't destined for California. On an upnote we also have virtually no exhaust system so it should be easy to install a new one! Oh yeah... a magnet does stick to the bumper so why isn't it rusting? The chrome plating is clearly peeling off.
Guest imported_Thriller
Thanks for the chuckle...gotta love those enlightening moments...I have "senior moments" far too often, and I'm not yet
Guest my3buicks
Which interior does it have in it, the standard Special Deluxe one (I attached a pic of the regular Special Deluxe inerior) or the optional Skylark style interior?
Guest dayvd1960
It has the same interior as the one in the pic. Even the same 2 tone blue color.
Guest dayvd1960
So we worked on cleaning today. Oh man have we got a long way to go, but I gotta say it's great fun working together with my 16 yo son out in the sun and warm weather!my3buicks on your interior shot I noticed that on the far left side of the dash just above the emergency brake release there is a chrome knob. What's that for? We don't got no pretty chrome knob there. Also on the dash the knob to the left of the cigarette lighter there is a knob for "Accessory". You have a knob, we don't got no knob. What's that knob for?I also attached a pic of our rear anti-sway bar. Somebody really needs to clean up that tank!
Guest my3buicks
The crome knob above the emergency brake release is for the factory accessory spotlight, the other knob is for the rear window defogger, and if you notice to the right of the chrome knob for the spotlight, there is another knob on the blue part of the lower dash, that is for the guide-matic headlamp dimmer. Attached a pic of the spotlight and headamp dimmer
