Indiana Reintroduces Bill to Exempt Antique Vehicles from Excise Surtax

A bill (H.B. 1327) has been introduced in the Indiana State Legislature by Representative Thomas Saunders to provide an exemption from the excise surtax for motor vehicles licensed and registered as antiques.

We Urge You to Contact Members of the House Ways and Means Committee (List Attached) Immediately To Request Their Support for H.B. 1327

Indiana law defines an ?Antique? as a motor vehicle or motor scooter that is at least twenty-five (25) years old.

The county surtax is generally applied at a rate of between $7.50 and $25 annually for each motor vehicle registered in the county depending on the age and value of the vehicle.
