Vehicle Description

*** FYI, Many people have never heard of a Chandler Automobile.

From the Standard Catalog of American Cars,

"In February of 1913, a group of former officers of the Lozier Motor Company in Detroit moved to Cleveland to form their own company to build a six cylinder car similar to the Lozier Light Six. ...The company became successful almost immediately and the Chandler motorcar became among the most highly regarded medium priced automobile in America.Although not a competition car by any means, the Chandler's performance on the road was meritorious. In 1915 a Chandler was drivern 2000 miles without having to have a motor or wheel stop. In 1926 a Chandler was driven 1000 miles in 689 minutes. A victory at Pikes Peak in 1926 started a promotonal campaign promoting the "Pikes Peak engine". .....

I bought this rare 1927 Chandler Big Six Metropolitan Four Door Sedan in 1972 from a man in Iowa. I've had it stored in my heated garage until last year where it sat UN-restored. The car had no rust-out just minor surface rust only . It has been restored from the frame up. The restoration started by sand blasting the under carriage. Next black epoxy frame paint was applied. Then the body was machine and hand sanded to bare metal. Self etching primer was applied, then filler primer. Next this car was painted with two stage paint, hand sanded and machine polished to brilliant luster. The interior has been restored. Because of their excellent condition we were able to use all of the original panels and seats for patterns. Upholstery pleating has been hand stuffed just as the original was. The motor and drive train are all original and work and drive fine. The wheel base of this vehicle is 124" with brand new 600x21 Lester Tire wide whites. The motor has 3 1/2 x 5" bore and stroke, 266" cubic inches. The glass has all been replaced with modern safety glass. The wind shield rolls up for ventilation. There is new chrome on the radiator and bumpers along with various other pieces. The radiator ornament is the original as is the car top with no tears or leaks. When we changed the head liner the wood in the roof still looked like new so if you are looking for a great show car or a fun car to drive please bid.ps actual milage is not correct we were told it had under 5000.00 miles but didnt have a speedometer with car later we instaled a different used speedometer
