So. Cal. Local Club Recommendation Please

Hello,

I've recently acquired a 1947 Buick Super 56C Convertible. I live in Crestline, in the mountains above San Bernadino, California. I would like to become affiliated with a local Buick club in Southern California, and I'm looking for recommendations.

Thanks,

Th Orange County Chapter is a good bunch, but that would be a tough drive to Tustin for Friday evening meetings. Good news is the next meeting is Sat, Jan 13 for lunch and a planning meeting for the year's activities. At least it gets you a chance to meet the members. Look for the link to the OC chapter on the main page of this site.

I am out of the country for grad studies, so you will have to tell the members I said HI.

Congrats on a great car you got.

You could always look into starting-up an Inland Empire chapter.

I'll bet that there would be enough Buick owners in San Bernardino and Riverside counties to make that work.

San Bernardio is, afterall the biggest county in the nation. It is even larger in area than some north eastern states. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

I would be up for joining in! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Hello Doug,

I appreciate the endorsement for the Orange County Chapter. It looks like an active chapter with a lot going on. As you noted, driving from my area to the O.C. would really be a challenge on Fridays. Good luck with your studies and your cars - you've got alot going on.

Thanks, Wally

Hello Robert,

That's a really good idea that I sure would support. The population of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties together is more than many states. I don't have any idea of BCA membership for the inland empire, but I have seen quite a few really nice Buicks in the area. I wonder how we could determine the level of interest?

Thanks,

Wally

Dear Wally & Robert:

Starting a new BCA chapter isn't that hard. Get a roster printout from the BCA office by zip code that the office can make. A 2005 roster and a pencil for a list works too. Pick out a restaurant with a lunch room, tell them what you're trying to do and ask for the room for a certain Saurday afternoon about two months out. Send everyone a letter saying what's going on and when the Founder's meeting is. Send a letter to the BCA board asking for a Chapter charter, picking a name that you would like to use and signed by those members and spouses present.

Regards, Dave Corbin,

South Central Regional Director, BCA

PS: Growing and maintaining a chapter is the hard part!
