grog
Has anyone removed their rear drums, I removed the kotter pin and nut and made a 6"x1/2 thick rd plate to bolt to the front of the drum via the lugs and loosed the rear adj bolts for the brake shoes the drum spins free soaked it with penetrating oil but for the life of I cannot get the drum to pop off I'm using a 3 jaw puller. This drum has never been off and thinking it has rusted to the shaft, should I put a torch on it and heat it up and have a go at it. I have to replace the brake piston. Any suggestion, advice, tips would be great. Mark
Guest imported_BaronvonR
Well the rear drums are always a bugger to get off and if they have not been off in a long time they do tend to stick. You do need the drum puller and making sure it is properly centered you need a 5# hammer and hit the tightening screw REALLY hard...a few times...it will come off with a "Bang". Some have used heat, but I for one have not...just brute strength.....BvR
