Moparbob
1953 Chysler Windsor Deluxe. The fuel gauge has never worked. Always reads "Full" whether ground at sender is connected or disconnected. Needle returns to "Empty" when key is off. Sometimes needle sticks on "Empty" when key is on, but go's right to "Full" after tapping dash with finger. Installed new sender to no avail. Common sense tells me it's the gauge, but does anybody have other suggestions? How do I test this circuit? Couldn't find anything in the manual. Thanks, Bob
Bob Kinker
What car? Have you checked the wires running to the gauge for grounds?

grog
My 49 windsor gauge didn't work either so I took the sending unit out of the tank and ran new wire from the gauge to the sending unit (at the gauge I cut the old wire off to the sending unit) and grounded the sending unit and worked the arm on the unit to see of the needle move which it did so my problem was a bad connection someone ,I just ran new wire and the gauge works fine.
