fred
Would anyone know what size of Flathead 6 was used in the 55 Fargo 1/2 ton trucks that were built in Canada. I recently read they were using 230 in 1954 but switched to the 251 in 1955, is this correct or does anyone happen to know. I own a 55 Fargo engine, would like to use it possibly with a fluiddrive if it has the 8 bolt crank................Fred
Guest imported_Bill-W
Chrysler of Canada built only the 25" block from 1938 - the 230.2-cid engine was based on the 23" block and was never used in a Canadian-built Chrysler vehicle after 1937. The 1948 to 1953 Dodge and Fargo ½-ton trucks used the 218.1-cid engine (3.375" bore and 4.062" stroke). For 1954 they switched to the 228.1-cid six (3.375" bore and 4.25" stroke) just as the Plymouth and Dodge cars did a similar switch in April, 1953.For 1955 the Canadian Dodge and Fargo trucks adopted the 250.6-cid engine (3.44" bore and 4.50" stroke) just as the Plymouth and Dodge cars adopted the 250.6-cid engine for cars built with Powerflite. The 250.6-cid engine was used in Dodge/Fargo ½-ton trucks and Plymouth/Oodge cars until the slant six was adopted (1960 for cars and 1961 for ½-ton trucks).American-built Dodge and Fargo ½-ton trucks used the 230.2-cid engine starting with the "C" series in 1955. Prior to that they used the 217,6-cid engine.BillVancouver, BC
