Resale Values ?

I have been watching Reatta sales fro quite a while and have been disappointed in the values of the cars and how long it seems to take to sell one 9according to what I have heard). I know they are specialty cars and thus the audience for them is limited; however, I would think they would bring more than they are currently bringing.

IMHO too different,too european, too many little problems constantly popping up. Not a well known car, even among the "car guys". Low production numbers don't always mean investment quality collectable. On the other hand; to know one is to love one, but it can be difficult to make the introduction. You need a buyer that understands what they are getting into and still wants the car. OR somebody stumbles across a reatta and it's love at first sight. I think worries about parts and electronic troubles work against value

hey guys, winter is coming..most folks up in the north here like their trucks in winter.

Panik seems to prefer driving a Reatta thru the snowy winter, instead of any 4X4 or SUV. I'll have to get another "daily driver" set up for her this winter.

...and the fuel economy is far better than any truck, suv or 4X4!!

My 88 coupe was my year round daily driver from 1991 until 2003 in NE Indiana, great car in the snow. Only off road once in snow, hit deep snow and was pulled into median in about 6 inches of snow, I just kept foot on the gas and slowly pulled back on the road.

Everyone likes something unique or a classic. Consider this though:

If you bought a Reatta to make money on it, there are better choices. The idea of ever increasing values actually helps a bit.

That $3500 Reatta? If they all went to 20-30k imagine what would happen every time you needed some small part for it that wasn't also used on other cars. We've already seen this with glass. Glass for the Reatta isn't rare, you can get it any day of the week, for a price. Let that Reatta go way up in value and that glass will start costing you a lot more money.

Insurance also goes up. Everything goes up.

Personally, I don't feel any better with a value of 30k than 3500, I like the car, not what someone thinks it's value is.

We'll all be real sorry if these cars start to soar in price. That little doodaad suddenly becomes a major cost item. No thank you.

The value makes no difference unless you are going to sell it. Then the only people that will have these cars are those trailering them to manicured lawns to stand around in suits and frilly clothes and talk about the Hamptons. I'd much rather know down to earth people that enjoy driving them.

As I was driving to Lansing from Chicago, I thought of a slogon. Unfortunately only we can appreciate it.

I have a question along these lines.......

Recently read that Range Rover had the most defect (service call) of any new vehicle sold.

Another place I read the Range Rover had the highest percent of resale value.

Figure that out.........

I do not care if they rise in value or not, I have waited for years to own a Reatta or Reattas and I dislike some of the problems I have encountered but having a great time fixing them up and driving around in a town that has only one other Reatta owner besides me. I do not know his name yet, have not had an opportunity to corner him.
