HELP!! 1973 New Yorker production numbers needed!

The general production figures can be found in "The Standard Catalog of Chrysler" book, which you can get from Barnes&Noble, Borders, etc. or their online presences. It'll give the general production figures, but not for the installation rates of the various options on the vehicles.

Typically, sunroofs were pretty rare back then. They had a reputation for leaking too, which didn't help their order rate either.

Chrysler Historical might have the installation rate information, but then they might not--just depends upon the model year of the vehicle.

Hope that helps,

In the New Yorker series there was a 4 dr sedan and a 4 dr HT

There was also a New Yorker Brougham series with a 4 dr sedan, 4 dr HT, and a 2dr HT coupe. Production ranges for 7.619 for the NY 4 dr HT to 26,635 for the NY Brougham 4 dr HT. The sunroof was a $592 option

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but since Barney seems to have these numbers at his fingertips, just how many 1958 Plymouth Fury cars were produced? (My hidden agenda is to find out if any '58 Fury's were custom-ordered in Red rather than standard Buckskin Beige, because the legend of "Christine" says that she was factory ordered with red paint.)

To answer your first question - Plymouth built 5,303 Fury 2-door hardtops for 1958.

As for the second, there is no "Christine" legend. Christine was a novel - a work of fiction. If you read the novel you learn that "Christine" was a red, 4-door sedan with lock controlled on the inside by buttons/knobs. This also appeared in the movie, if memory serves me.

Supposedly Mr. King originally had "Christine" as a Chevrolet Impala but changed it to a Fury before publication. That the 1958 Fury came only as a 2-door hardtop, was not available in red and the doors were locked inside by pushing the door handles forward were facts either overlooked or unknown to Mr. King.
