Guest cc12007
After almost 2 years, I'm getting close to starting my 50 Super 8. I drained the ATF and cleaned the pan and filter while waiting for a rebuilt water pump. What kind of fluid do these transmissions use. Also, what kind of light bulbs are used for the turn signals and parking lights. I checked mine and one has offset pins and the other doesn't. Thanks for all your help. Guest Randy Berger
If you don't have an owners manual, log onto kev's website, register and look up 49 owner's manual which will have all the information on bulbs, etc. Kev's website is:http://www.packardinfo.com
Rattpac
Dexron/Mercon III, the reason that I did not go with the type F is that I have been told the Dexron is closer to the Type A than Type F, with type F being a bit thicker. There is also the concern of the bleed down orfice on the direct drive of not releasing the direct (lockup) drive on a quick stop. Also using Dexron/Mercon III in the PS pump with no problems at all.
