This is so exciting. My husband finished the restoraion last fall and we had an unvailing party in November. But with Minnesota weather had to keep her inside until now! We have now just taken a few short cruises to see if we needed to dial anything in. She runs out beautifuly. Will be taking her to her first show on Sunday. Have registered for Rochester nationals in July. Hope to meet a few of you there!

This is special to me as this car is a tribute to my 86 year old mother who had a Buick identical to this car when I was a child. I even found a 1950's child car seat just like the one I sat in.

I am going to try to incorporate some pics, I hope this works!

Congratulations. I know that great feeling of pride and accomplishment, having just finished a 10 year restoration on my 47 76C. That blue is beautiful. Mine is also the light blue offered n 47. A real eye catcher, and you'll never tire of the compliments.

Cheers,

John

Superb! How about some details for those of us unable to make it to Rochester? It appears to have aslight back to front rake to it, so I'm wondering, straight 8 or V8?

And the tires seem to fill the wheel wells horizontally, so stock suspension or updated front and rear axles?

The car definitely looks great though...53's are surely Special...

Hello Guy,

I just read the posts and messages this week. Sorry I missed your message right after my post. We did go to the all GM show sponsored by Gopher State. Was a lovely day and had so much fun. We took @nd place in the convertible class. Did you make it? Wondering if we may have talked to you and did not realize it.

See they had another GM show at the fair grounds last weekend. Forget at the moment who was sponsoring it. We had other engagements so we did not make that one. Send pic of your car if you can would love to see. I am guessing it must be a Packard :-)

Hope to run into you since your also in the area.

Hi John,

Checked my post and was amazed at all the members responses. Guess I am partial to my husband because I sat out in the shop until wee hours of the mornings many nites. I would crack open a bottle of wine and hand him the tools. The fun part was shopping for things like plasma cutters etc. Oh, and he let me spot weld. I can appreciate all the classic cars because I know now what goes into restoring them and all the hours it takes. And all the looks and thumbs up are a welcoming appreciation when you have done it yourself. (my husband that is)

Yes, I will be sure to have some pics and a report on the nationals in Rochester.

You are right, the car does have a slight rake to it. We are going to drive this car and enjoy it. We purchased lower profile radials for lowering and ride. The springs were clamped down a notch to also lower it. The new springs seemed so stiff and car seemed so high. After we adjusted springs we too noticed the rake! We liked it and chose to keep it. The car drives and rides beutifully.

My husband seems to have a method to his madness. He did a lot of prefitting and refitting and when it came to the rake it was perfect!
