Identify movie cars

The Packard in "Rumor has it" appears to be a 1940 180 sedan. The car Stan and Ollie are driving in "two tars" is an early 20's Ford model T (the only car for L&H!). I can't tell you what a delight it is to see those stills (actually still frames) from "Two Tars". I am a silent film accompanist, have been for 25 years. The very first film I ever scored was "Two Tars". I still get calls to accompany it, and never grow tired of it. It is very difficult to get a good ID on many of the cars in that picture. I know that the car they are in front of (they back into it, starting the escilating melee) is a Studebaker.

Fun site...

I only looked at the first couple of pages...(could spend the whole night here!)...

On page 2, the car in "The Hoosegow"( Laurel & Hardy) looks like an early '20s Locomobile... the boys are serving time, and on a work detail outdoors. The governor stops to inspect the progress of the work detail, and inevitably, a pick winds-up flying into the radiator of said Loco... the boys remove the pick, with the resultant geyser of water from the radiator, and a nearby cook tells them to "put some rice in that radiator ! That will stop that leak"...

The rice does stop the leak, and shortly thereafter begins to exit the radiator filler in volcanic fashion...

Goodness knows how many "T"s met their end at the Hal Roach studios !

The pics from "Hog Wild" made me laugh out loud...

On a subsequent page is a background that includes a 1920's Fageol truck - headlights mounted out on the fenders, somewhat like Pierce-Arrow...

Bob 37HD45 you should see pgs 16 & 18 for old racers. If you haven't already. Maybe other pages too, I didn't look at all.

Great Old Pictures, Brockway!

Thanks for the ID's!

I just sent there some pictures of a 1930´s (1935) movie called "Danger Ahead". Typical B-film gangster/action movie of the day with the usual fist fights and high speed car chases. Couple of mystery cars in that movie. Can you identify this unknown cab ??

EDIT: it's a 1929 Checker Model K

'29 Buick?

(If it's GM, I think it would be pre-1930... the lug nuts were concealed under the hubcap for 1930 & later General Motors cars)

Here's another one. It's from a movie "45 minutes from Hollywood" made in 1926. Real old-type bus based on truck platform. Is it a Selden ???

I don't think so, I don't see the tell-tale horse collar grille, even thought the picture is kind of fuzzy.

Yes, That's a Winton, I don't have any front views to confirm that the headlight are correct. I always enjoy your posts, please keep posting them. Bob

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">One of the best pre WW II car movies is "Speedy." Starring Harold Lloyd it takes place on the streets on New York in about 1928 & has literally thousands of cars in it. </div></div>

Thank you for your recommendation, K8096. I bought the film and now I just finished watching it. This movie has indeed, maybe not thousands, but at least hundreds of cars. Re-mastered picture quality was excellent. For a silent film it was very entertaining. It will keep me busy for the whole week. I just added first few cars from the movie to Movie Car database:

http://www.imcdb.org/movie_19412-Speedy.html

Now I need all the help I can get in identifying job <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

There are many mystery cars which need an proper ID. Many of the mystery cars are pre-1930 and are quite challenging to identify (like buses, trucks). We need experts there ! </div></div>

What a great site! I have found 2 more movies that have Amphicars that I did not know about! COOL! I added them to my site.
