Depley
I was just talking with a person with a 71 Buick Skylark for sale. Claims it has a engine that was found in only approximately 20 cars. A 350 4 barrel carb. Something about a red or blue (she couldn't remember which). Is there anything to this?Is this car worth pursuing (engine is original to car)?thanks
Smartin
Sounds like he's blowing smoke where the sun don't shine. The 350-4bbl is a pretty standard motor. Yeah, most baseline Skylarks came with the 250-2bbl, but there were quite a few more than 20 cars built with the 4bbl. The engine should be red in color. JohnD1956
I remember seeing a 70 or 71 Skylark convertible with a red 350 engine/ 4 Bbl and on the valve covers it had a decal that said "high compression". This was a more than a few years ago ( maybe 1996 or thereabouts). I thought that odd at the time and never followed it up but I recall it distinctly. It certainly looked to be an original car in it's entirety. JD
Buicks Rule
Some years there were 2 350 4 bbl. One at about 275 hp and one at 315. The 315 was standard in the GS350 but could be ordered in a regular Skylark. I think 70, 71 and possibly 69. 72 the compression dropped so not likely.
