abelincoln
Anyone try to operate the window / top hydraulic pump with 12 volts positive? I'm adding an alternator and trying to figure what needs to be changed on a 48 Continental Cabriolet. There is also a vacuum pump for the wipers. imported_v12lincoln
I have used 12 volt on my pump but changed the soleinoid to a 12 volt, for just the windows it would work fine, watch out because you will have fast windows, for a conv. I dont think I would stress that old motor for the time it takes to get it up and down. If you are changing to an alternator why not get a 6volt positive ground alt and you dont have to change anything but the Gen mount.Thats what I have done on my 48 conv. check out an earlier post on My Lincoln engine to see a picture. it works great, lights dont go dim at idle and top goes up and down within a minute at idle. If you want originality there are a few people that can convert your Gen over to an alt, IF you can afford the 650-800 to do it.
