Some were retrofitted in the 30's, but many have been by modern restorers too. I believe this is the car Elvis drove in a movie. It had 20" wheels on it at that time which are incorrect (it should have 19") and it loooks like it may still has the 20" on it.

Duesenberg J's never used 20-inch wheels. Are these Buffalo wheels with Duesenberg hubs?

I know. They had 19", and then some of the later JN's had 17". They are Buffalo wire wheels. Basically if it has 20" wheels on it they are off of a 1928 or 1929 Cadillac because they used the same 6" hub. Other cars like Stutz used a smaller 5" hub.
