Hi All, I have been reading the forum for a week or so now ,and have learned a lot. I bought my car 8 days ago and we are enjoying it a lot.Just joined the DB Club , but have not recieved anything yet.I do have a leaking grease seal , not sure if it is outer or inner?

Can either be changed without pulling axel?

I HAVE A 1923 AND AM NOT SURE IF THE SEALS ARE THE SAME. I SUSPECT THAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT A REAR SEAL. THE ANSWER IS YES YOU PROBABLY DO HAVE TO REMOVE THE AXLE TO ACCESS THE SEAL. IF THE SEAL IS THE SAME AS MY 23 IT IS MADE OF FELT. I FOUND ON THE FELT ONES YOU CAN USE KEROSENE AND A TOOTH BRUSH. SOAK THE SEAL WITH THE KEROSENE AND LIGHTLY SCRUB THE SEAL WIT THE TOOTH BRUSH.

NEXT VERIFY THAT YOU ARE USING THE CORRECT OIL. MY 23 TAKES 600 WEIGHT. WITH THE CORRECT WEIGHT OF OIL ALL OF MY REAR-END OIL LEAK PROBLEMS DISAPPEARED.

I HOPE THIS HELPS.

I have a 30 Chrysler and the rear outside seals can be replaced without pulling the axle. The drums need to be taken off with a hub puller. Sometimes they are very tight. Can you email me (hwellens@copper.net). I have a couple questions about your car.
