Guest friscozephyr
The rubber covers on the running board of my 39 LZ sedan are looking a little sad and should be replaced. Has anyone had any experience replacing them and has any knowledge of where to find the replacement rubber. I'd like to get some feedback on how hard it is to remove the old ones and install new ones. I understand that early Ford V8s used a similar rubber material on their running boards. DizzyDale
Dear Frisco,Remove the old rubber with a stiff bladed putty knife while you are heating up the backside with a heatgun. It will take a few minutes to build up the required heat then it will ALMOST fall off.Early V-8 guys are lucky,Drake makes covers for just about all the years, but NO Zephyr covers. For those you have to call Hunley Acuff,Rossville Georgia, far as i know he is the only guy on the planet that vulcanizes covers just like Mr. Ford use to.His work is FLAWLESS,# 706-866-4875
